I teach Engineering classes and would like to offer services to provide assistance outside of those classes to help students in need.

My background is in mechanical engineering and I have worked in the industry for nearly 20 years. I can assist with CNC programming, design efforts, modelling questions, drafting assistance, even technical writing for publishing instructions on use and maintenance of an item or system.

Fluid Dynamics, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Electrohydraulics were my favorite courses in college, and, I have followed that career path with sustainment engineering on the Fuel System, Hydraulic System, and Flight Control Systems on the B-1B. I designed replacements for castings, performed environmental testing on new mechanical and electrical components, assisted in reverse engineering projects, and, have provided project management and proposal reviews for both the government as well as contractors bidding on proposals from the government.

Communication skills with people with a technical and people without a technical background are crucial for engineers to learn. It is one thing to sit down with your fellow engineers and discuss computational fluid dynamics, coefficients of friction, and the impact of laminar and turbulent flow around baffles and why the heat exchanges that gets hit with debris from a runway at 300 mph doesn't work well.

It is another to speak with management to clarify that you have the resources to provide analysis and design improvement recommendations that can ultimately save the Air Force 200K per aircraft every 5 years by not having to replace the heat exchanger, and, instead, making a slight modification to the door that opens to break up the flow and remove debris before it hits the heat exchanger.
